Tabs and split panes
Open terminals, files, diffs and graphs in tabs, and drag them to split the view.
The workspace opens views as tabs: terminal, Claude, file (code, markdown, PDF, drawing), diff and graph.
Opening tabs
Section titled “Opening tabs”- Pick Terminal or Claude from the New tab (+) menu in the tab bar.
Ctrl+Shift+T(macOS⌘⇧T) opens a new terminal tab in the current pane. - Clicking a file, worktree, changed file or graph in the sidebar opens the matching tab.
- Tabs with unsaved files show ● before the title.
- Shell tabs are numbered like “Terminal 1”. While Claude Code runs the tab becomes “claude 1”, and once the session has a title, it shows that title.
- Drag a tab within the tab bar to reorder it.
The Tab actions menu in the tab bar has Save All, Close All and the layout preset items. When tabs overflow, scroll buttons appear on both sides.
Splitting panes
Section titled “Splitting panes”Drag a tab onto the body of another pane. Drop it in the middle to add it to that pane, or near the top, bottom, left or right edge to split that way. You can drag files from the file tree too. Drag the divider to resize.
Layout preset
Section titled “Layout preset”Save the split layout you use most as a single preset.
- Save Layout as Preset in the Tab actions menu saves the current split. After that, the same menu shows overwrite, Arrange by Preset and Clear Preset.
- A project or worktree you open for the first time opens in the preset layout, with a terminal in each pane.
- Arrange by Preset reshapes the current view to the preset. Terminal and Claude tabs are spread across the panes in order, empty panes get a new terminal, and other tabs go to the first pane.
Moving between tabs and panes
Section titled “Moving between tabs and panes”| Action | Windows | macOS |
|---|---|---|
| Go to the nth tab of the current pane (1-9) | Ctrl+number |
⌘+number |
| Go to the pane in the arrow’s direction | Ctrl+Shift+arrow |
⌘⇧+arrow |
When the editor has focus, the pane shortcut keeps the editor’s own behavior (extend selection by word).
Tab group unit
Section titled “Tab group unit”Tabs are kept per group. Pick Project (default) or Worktree under Tab group unit in the General tab of the settings. Changing it restarts the app.
Confirm on close
Section titled “Confirm on close”Closing an unsaved file asks whether to save. Closing a terminal with a running program asks whether to stop it. You can turn this check off in the General tab of the settings.
